Bulky Item Disposal

Many bulky items, such as appliances and car bodies, can be recycled at the Solid Waste Processing Facility (SWPF).

Please do not place bulky items out for regular garbage collection unless special arrangements have been made with LSI ahead of time.

Residents of Bovill, Deary, Genesee, Juliaetta, Kendrick, Potlatch and Rural Latah County may use the semi-monthly Bulky Waste Sites for disposal of appliances, furniture and other large items.  For more information on the Bulky Waste Sites, click here.

Carry Out Service

Carry out service is available for those persons who, for reason of physical limitations, cannot place their garbage out at the curb for collection.  If you are in need of this service, please call LSI at 882-5724 to make arrangements.

Composting Services

LSI encourages all our customers to help reduce the amount of waste going to the landfill by composting lawn and garden debris.  Household lawn and garden trimmings may be brought to the SWPF or to the Yard Waste Disposal Area located behind Moscow Recycling for composting.

Commercial landscaping and lawn care companies are prohibited from using the Yard Waste Disposal Area.  We ask that Commercial entities haul trimmings directly to the SWPF for composting.

There is no charge for dropping off lawn and garden trimmings for composting at either the Yard Waste Disposal Area or the SWPF.

Container Rental

22-yard and 30-yard capacity rolloff containers are available for rental by calling LSI (882-5724).

Household Hazardous Waste

Any product with flammable, corrosive, reactive, toxic, or irritant properties is considered Household Hazardous Waste (HHW).  Please be aware that it is illegal to dispose of these items in your household trash.  Latah County residents may safely dispose of HHW at the new Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at the Solid Waste Processing Facility.  For more information on HHW, its proper disposal, and alternatives to common hazardous household chemicals and products, click here.

Fall Leaf Collection (City of Moscow ONLY)

Each year, Latah Sanitation, Inc. provides a Fall Leaf Collection Service for City of Moscow residents.  During the collection, residents may place leaves and other non-woody lawn and garden trimmings out for curbside collection.  This year we are asking residents to haul their leaves to Moscow Recycling's 24 hour yard waste drop-off site located directly behind Moscow Recycling on N. Almon Street.  If you are unable to do this then call Latah Sanitation, Inc. (882-5724) or Moscow Recycling (882-0590) to set up an appointment to have your leaves collected.  For more info check the upcoming events section of this site or call Moscow Recycling at 882-0590.

Medical Waste

If you generate medical waste which may present a health risk to our collection workers, please call LSI to make arrangements for special medical waste collection.  Currently, there is no extra charge for this service.

Christmas Tree Drop-Off (City of Moscow ONLY)

Each year, the City of Moscow sponsors a free Christmas Tree Drop-Off program for City of Moscow households wishing to compost their tree after the holidays.  For details, please click here.

Businesses, tree farms, and those who live outside the City of Moscow may take their trees to the SWPF for composting.  There is no charge for dropping off trees at the SWPF.
