Providing Solid Waste Solutions for a Better Community

City of Moscow Christmas Tree Drop-Off

City of Moscow Residents--Don't pay to trash your tree; compost it for free!  City of Moscow households may drop off their tree at Moscow Recycling's 24 Hour Yard Waste Drop-Off Site located directly behind the Center on North Almon Street.  Signs will direct you to the drop site.

There are a few important things to remember if you are bringing a tree to the drop site:

  1. Remove all lights, ornaments and tinsel from your tree.

We're sorry, but businesses and tree farms are not permitted to use the Christmas Tree Drop-Off.

Businesses and Tree Farms may take their trees directly to the Solid Waste Processing Center (SWPF), located 5 miles east of Moscow on Highway 8.  There is no charge to drop off trees at the SWPF.
  1. Remove tree stand and any nails or metal supports.

  1. If your tree is taller than 5 feet, chop the tree into sections of 5 feet or less.
For more information, please contact us.
Please Note:  City of Moscow residents who wish to have their tree collected at the curb may put it out with their trash; however, the tree must be cut into 5 ft. or smaller sections, and a garbage tag must be attached to each section.  Trees collected at the curb will not be composted--they will be landfilled with your household trash.
