Curb It!
Curbside Recycling FAQ's
How do I know which week to put out which recyclables?
This is no longer a problem under our new system. You may recycle your
Curbside Calendar as mixed waste paper!
What if I have more recyclables than I can fit into the bin?
If on a particular week you have more recyclables than you can fit into your
bin, please consider hauling the extra materials to the recycling center (401 N.
Jackson), or storing the extra recyclables until the following week. Please be aware that our driver may leave large
quantities of cardboard and packing paper from moving at his or her discretion,
as overloading the curbside truck with one or two specific recyclables reduces
the program's efficiency.
When should I set out my curbside recycling bin?
Recyclables should be set on the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. on the same day
your garbage is collected.
Where do I set my curbside recycling bin?
Your curbside recycling bin should be set out next to your garbage can, in a
spot where it can be clearly seen from the street.
Do I need to set out the bin every week?
No. If you do not have enough recyclables to fill the bin each week,
please wait until the bin is full to set it out in order to keep the program
running as efficiently as possible.
What if I place non-recyclables in my bin?
Non-recyclable items will be left in the bin, and the bin will be tagged with
an "Oops!" sticker to explain the problem.
What about other items not listed on the Curbside Sorting
Instructions?
We're sorry, but due to space limitations in the collection truck, we are not
able to accept everything on the curbside recycling route. Auto batteries, non-ferrous scrap metals and other items that are recyclable at
Moscow Recycling, but are not listed in the Curbside Sorting Instructions should
be brought directly to the recycling center.
Why isn't my recycling getting picked up on campus?
We're sorry, but LSI/MR is not responsible for recycling collections on
campus. Please contact the University of Idaho Recycling Office at
885-6222
I'm not eligible for the Curb It! program, but I need bins to store and haul
my recyclables to Moscow Recycling--can I get curbside bins for this purpose?
We're sorry, but we cannot give recycling bins to those who are not eligible
for the program. Many local retailers sell inexpensive plastic storage
bins that you can purchase for use in storing and hauling your recyclables to
the recycling center. Reusing a cardboard box is a cheaper and more
sustainable option.
* Please note that the curbside
recycling bins are the property of Latah Sanitation, Inc./Moscow Recycling. Bins are to remain with the property, not
the occupant, in the event of a move.
