Sorting Recyclables for Curbside Collection

Due to the number of items collected by the Curb It! Curbside Recycling Program, participants are asked to sort their recyclables to make the program as efficient as possible.  Please follow these instructions to insure uninterrupted service.

Under our new system, we are asking that you sort your recyclables a bit differently.

Each resident that participates in the Curbside program receives two bins.

Bin 1

Place all magazines in one bag
Place mixed waste paper (office pack, cereal boxes, egg cartons, etc.) in one bag
Place plastic #2 milk jugs and #1 plastic bottles in one bag
    Place newspaper under this bin
Place phone books in a bag next to this bin

Bin 2

Place aluminum cans in one bag
Place all glass in one bag
Place tin cans in one bag
Place batteries in a plastic baggie
    Place cardboard under this bin

Please keep in mind that these sorting guidelines are intended as one possible way to sort your recyclables.  What is important, is that your recyclables are sorted so the driver is able to collect them efficiently. If you have a system that works for you, and for us, go for it!  Remember, to ensure uninterrupted service, be sure to sort your recyclables and have them placed at your curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your garbage day!
