Paper is Paper, Right?
Not When It Comes to Recycling. Reprocessors are very selective about the
materials they put into their recycled-content products, and it’s up to
Moscow Recycling to give them what they require.
You can help us by taking the time to
carefully sort your waste papers before bringing them to the recycling
center. Below is our sorting guide to the nine different paper grades we
accept. To understand why proper sorting is necessary, here are a few paper recycling facts you should know: Paper can be classified as high-grade or
low grade
High-grade papers can be recycled
with low-grade papers, but low-grade papers cannot be
recycled with high-grade papers. Cardboard Corrugated (wavy middle) cardboard
and brown paper grocery bags. Magazines High-gloss magazines and catalogs
only. If catalogs are thicker than ¼ inch, please tear binding into
sections approximately ¼ inch thick. Please do not include
magazines made from newsprint, such as TV Guide, or National
Geographic Magazine, which is not recyclable. Mixed Waste
Paper Single-ply cardboard such as cereal boxes, molded pulpboard (egg cartons), construction paper, wrapping paper, tissue paper, paper towel cores, 12-pack and 24-pack pop and beer containers, shoe boxes, paper milk cartons, juice boxes, and soy milk boxes, post-it notes, pastel colored papers, envelopes (with or without windows), thermal fax paper, carbonless duplication paper, slick or glossy paper (including pamphlets and brochures, but not magazines), file folders, index cards, receipt and calculator tape. Newspaper
Newspaper and newspaper inserts. We
like to say, "If it comes in your newspaper, it can be recycled
with your newspaper." Phone Books Old telephone directories—no
paperback books, please. White Ledger White copy paper, inkjet &
laser printed computer paper, lined notebook paper and plain paper
faxes. Sorry . . . We realize that you want to recycle
as much as you can; however, due to market and space constraints, we
do not accept some items. Please do not bring the following items to
Moscow Recycling. ~ Waxed paper or paper cups ~ Food-contaminated paper plates ~ Items with metal or plastic tops
or spouts (OK if you remove plastic & metal) ~ Bathroom or facial tissues ~ Used paper towels or paper
napkins
